Have Conviction in your Calling

When the world looks at the church do they see people who are willing to step out of their comfort zone to fulfil their calling. Are we so convicted to make disciples of all nations that we will do it at any cost?

We can’t ask to be used and then freak out because God is calling us out of a place of comfort and security and into a place of uncertainty and complete dependence on God. When we know our calling, we need to be so convicted about it and so focused on it, that the things of this world grow strangely dim. Instead of looking what we can lose in material comfort, let’s focus on what others can gain from our obedience.

When God calls you to something, one of 2 things can happen.

He can get you to do it even if you don’t want to. Jonah needed to go and share God with an evil city. This isn’t what Jonah expected his call to be, so he jumped onto a ship going in the opposite direction. He tried to run, but God still got him to Nineveh and he preached.

The other option is that God has other options. When He calls you and me to a task, we aren’t His only options. If we aren’t willing to put our hands up, He can use any one of the other 8 billion people on earth. When David’s brothers weren’t willing to take on Goliath, God used David. He was the most unlikely and most unqualified of the siblings.

When we know what God is calling us to do, we need to:

Being committed in our walk is tough. It requires self-sacrifice… just ask Jesus.
