Everything in our lives is a reflection of the choices we have made. If we want to reflect a different message, we need to make different choices.
For so many years in my life I made terrible choices. The result was a life that reflected selfishness. And what I loved to do was blame everyone else for my poor decisions. It would be fair to say that there were things done to me by others that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. But to allow other people to destroy my life, would mean that I was allowing them control. And the only One who should have control over our lives is Jesus Christ.
When we hate, our message to the world is hatred. When we are only concerned with our own well-being, we reflect a message of selfishness. By doing everything in our lives simply to impress others, we are conveying a false message. The world is in desperate need for authenticity. “Realness” in society is becoming an extinct feature. The only way our hearts, minds and souls can be in complete harmony, is when our lives reflect the message that God created us to give to the world.
We have been created to walk with God and be filled with His Spirit. And when we choose to follow Him instead of the world, our lives will reflect a message of Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness Gentleness and Self-control. The reason why the world is upside down, is because it doesn’t reflect any of these things; but instead, promotes selfishness and self-entitlement.
The choice is ours to make today. Will we choose a “plastic,” fake life that reflects a message that is of no benefit, or will we choose to be authentic and reflect a message that will turn the world the right-side-up. Let Jesus be the message your life reflects and see what a difference it makes. It changes a mere existence, to a life of true purpose. I’ve done it! It works!
