Hope is Here

Today in the town of David, a Saviour has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord.

We often sing about a silent night, but I doubt whether it was so calm in that stable. It wasn’t a place where anyone would want their child to be born. Mary must have felt anxious about the birth in such a place. And Joseph must have felt guilty for not being able to secure a more adequate spot for his family. But this is the place that God chose for His Son to be born.

How many kings would give up their thrones to be born in such a lowly place, into such a dark world? Jesus did. How many fathers would send their sons into a world that has no room for Him? God did. Jesus chose to leave His perfect place in heaven to come to this earth because of Love – His love for you and me. And so often, like the town of Bethlehem, we have no room for Him in our lives.

As the world turns its back on Jesus and uses this Christmas break as an excuse for another party, lets remember the reason for Christmas. Let’s remember that the creator of the universe chose to give His Son, so that you and I might receive Him in our lives and be set free and redeemed from the hold that the chains of sin have on us.

Our prayer for you is a day of peace and joy, knowing that a Son was born unto us, and His name is Jesus. Be blessed and have a wonderful day as you celebrate the birth of our Saviour. Please check out our Online Church page later today for a short Christmas message.
