Service

Service to others is the rent we pay for our room here on earth.

A life without service is empty and void of any meaning. To serve others allows us to truly live. So many of us are feeling like the “Walking Dead” because our lives revolve around ourselves and our very existence is focused on “Population Me”.

We fall for the lie that the world is broadcasting by being made to believe that it’s a dog-eat-dog world and that it’s every man for himself. The simple truth is that we are made to feel more important than we actually are. And we believe that, because we want a way to feel that we have worth. When I consider the universe that God created, and I look at how small and insignificant I am in the bigger scheme of things, it makes me realise that I am “nothing”. There are 8 billion other people on this blue planet flying through space at an unimaginable speed. Why would life then simply be about me. There are so many people who are in so much need. How dare I put myself on a pedestal and think that the world revolves around me and my comforts.

The simple fact is, that we live lives void of service, because we simply don’t know God. I thank God every day for His grace. Because of it, I don’t need to convince myself that I am somebody when I feel like a nobody. Because of Jesus Christ, I know my worth. I know that it doesn’t need to be proven by achievements or wealth. My worth has been proven on the cross. Jesus considered me so precious that He died on the cross to give me a new life. And that new life is a life of service. When I know my worth in the eyes of God, there is no need to prove it anymore, so there is no more selfish living.

There is no better place to be, than in the arms of Our Father where we know we are loved. God loves everyone, and He is calling us to be His hands and feet. We need to go where love is needed, and give love to all the world. It’s time for us to serve.
