The challenge of the unknown future, is so much more exciting than the stories of the accomplished past.
We love to live in the past, basing who we are on our past achievements. But falling into that habit without dreams about the future often leads to disappointment. My wife and I have a coffee every morning before we start our day. This morning we reminisced about all the place we’ve been to and the 4 countries we’ve lived in. Our life together has certainly been exciting up to this point. But that’s certainly not where it ends for us. At my ripe old age of 54, we still have great plans for our future together. At a time in life where most people are settled down and want to live a quiet life, our future is filled with excitement and business.
There are so many people out there who are feeling hopeless. Hopelessness finds its origin in having no vision for the future. It grows in the life of a person who keeps living in the past and refuses to see the opportunities up ahead. There is always hope in spite of our current circumstances. The problem is often that we are not willing to make a change, because it’s comfortable to do what we are familiar with. But nobody ever achieved anything new without opening a new door. We never know what’s behind it, but we can be sure that it will be exciting.
If you are stuck in a rut, feeling that your life is boring and unfulfilled, make a change. Open a new door. Start a new chapter in your life. It’s no good just thinking about it all the time. A new and exciting journey begins with turning the handle of a door you have never opened before, and taking the first step into your new life. If we are not willing to make changes, then we shouldn’t complain about our lives. Why dream about a different life, when we can live it. And what makes it all even more exciting is when you have God joining you on that journey. He wants you to have an exciting life that is filled with purpose and achievement. So, open that door, take that first step on the water towards that new horizon with your eyes focused on Jesus.
Have a great day!
