Turn Around

No matter how long you’ve travelled in the wrong direction, you can always turn around.

When things go crazy, the world loves to throw out the question, “If God is real, why doesn’t He do something?” And then, in the same breathe, when things go well, they deny His existence. How dare we call on God to improve our circumstances when we don’t even acknowledge Him in the “good” times. Something we all need to realise, is that God doesn’t force us to do anything. He is not a tyrant who throws His weight around.

He longs for a relationship with His creation. And the thing about a relationship is that it is a choice. Some people choose to begin a relationship with someone for the wrong reasons; maybe it’s about how they can benefit from it financially or emotionally. That’s the wrong motive. And we often do that with God. So many of us want to have a relationship with God because of what we can get out of it, when in fact, a relationship should be focused on the other person. When we choose a relationship with God, it should be about Him, not me. Many people choose not to accept God because they don’t feel it will benefit them, and that it will probably cost them their freedom.

That attitude needs a turnaround. It’s time to realise that we exist because God chose to create us. Every breathe we take is a gift from God. Every sunrise is another opportunity God is giving us to turn around. Every beat of our heart is another chance to turn to Him. He already gives us so much, and yet we want more. He gave us everything by sending Jesus to this earth to be mocked and crucified, so that we may be free from the grasp of sin, if we acknowledge what He has done for us. And yet, we want more. How dare we demand more from the Almighty God, who has already given us everything?

And still, He quietly longs for that moment when you and I turn to Him and choose to have a relationship with Him because of who He is, not because of our own greed of wanting more. So choose today what you will do. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord not because we want more from Him, but because we realise that we owe Him everything.

Have an amazing day.
