Braveheart

You can never cross the ocean until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.

Every single person is afraid of something, no matter how much we try to convince ourselves that we aren’t. The secret to a life of achievement and success is not in denying our fears – it’s in knowing that they’re there, but refusing to allow those fears to dominate our actions.

The absence of courage means living a life without any real purpose. It means that we choose to sit on the sidelines and watch everyone with courage, making an impact. It means that we are throwing away potential and the great impact we were born to make! The world needs something different because what’s happening at the moment is not working. The world needs light, because it’s filled with darkness. The world needs someone to stand up for what’s right, because it’s full of sheep simply following a road to self-destruction. The world needs fewer people who are too afraid to do anything new, yet, are very willing to criticise those stepping out. The world needs brave hearts.

The only way we can do that is by making sure we feed the right beast. The more we listen to the naysayers and feed our doubts, the fatter our doubts will become. But when we choose to feed our courage, the more it will drown out the shouts of “You can’t do it” and the louder the voice will become that says, “It’s time!” We don’t need to know where the staircase leads before we take the first step, especially when we know that we aren’t alone. God says, “I am the way”. God says, “I am the light”. There’s a reason for that. When we can’t see exactly where we are going, and we don’t know where the path is leading, all we need to know is that God knows. That should give us the courage to keep going. The fact of the matter is, that when we choose fear over courage, we choose to listen to lies, rather than God, who is “The truth!”

Scared might be what you are feeling about your calling. Brave is doing your calling in spite of your feelings. As Christians, we are called to step out of the boat no matter how scary the storm seems. Courage means taking action in spite of our circumstances. It’s during those times that we need to look into God’s eyes and know the reassurance we get from Him. It’s also our responsibility, to be there for those around us who might be feeling afraid, and point them to the One who tells us 365 times in His word not to worry, because He is with us. Underlying all our inaction due to fear, is simply a lack of trust in God.

Your impact is limitless – have the courage to pursue it. God can use any person, but only those who have the courage to step out are the ones that impact the world. Every single person will die someday and there’s nothing that we can do about that. But what we do have control over is whether we will truly live. To truly live means to make an impact. To truly live means to make a difference. To truly live means to fulfill your God-given purpose. And the only way we can truly live is to have the courage to do so.

Have an amazing day!
