“If you have no opposition in the place you serve, you are serving in the wrong place.“
The lack of opposition in our lives, is directly proportionate to the lack of action. The easiest way to avoid criticism and opposition, is to never step out of our comfort zones – to never dare to stand up for our convictions and our calling.
We all have the desire to be accepted and respected by others. But when that desire supersedes the search for truth and purpose, we begin to follow the crowd and accept a life that is void of any purpose and gusto. It is so sad that many of us have traded in their dreams and purpose, for a desire to be accepted by the world. We blindly follow the destructive notions of the majority that so often contradict morality because we want to be “liked”.
The truth is that we all have the choice. It’s either the cowardly one to avoid confrontation and to avoid opening ourselves up to being unpopular, or the brave one that lead to true fulfilment. Choosing to stand up for what is moral and good goes against societal norms. But that’s okay, because only dead fish swim with the stream.
It’s no wonder that Jesus said we need to take up our cross if we want to follow Him. It’s no wonder that He said we will have trouble while in this world. It’s no wonder that He was unpopular and faced opposition wherever he went. He wasn’t pre-occupied with being popular and following society. He was focused on loving and living a life of truth and purpose. It was about fulfilling His calling and anointing that God had given Him.
So, if you are in a place where you are choosing to sacrifice your calling, for societal acceptance, my plea is… “No you don’t!” Don’t choose a life of unfulfillment over a life of fulness. Don’t choose a life of popularity over a life of purpose. Don’t choose a life that seeks to please people over a life that seeks to show thanks to God for what He has done for us through His Son Jesus Christ.
So, today, choose to say “No I don’t” live for popularity… I live for purpose. And in doing that, know that anyone or anything that stands against you will not win because He who is within you is on your side.
