I’m not sure about you, but when I look at the world, watch the news and see how human beings treat one another, my heart bursts into tears. The Black Eyed Peas sum it up very well in their song “Where is the love?”
People killin’, people dyin’
Children hurt and you hear them cryin’
Can you practice what you preach?
And would you turn the other cheek?
When we see what’s happening around us, it can so easily make us feel helpless. That feeling can quickly evolve into a state of hopelessness that can lead to depression and we soon find ourselves waving a white flag to life. Giving up, then seems like the only option. But here’s the thing… we might not always be able to control the external factors happening around us, but we do have the choice to control what’s happening within us. I can choose to allow the world to destroy me, or I can choose to let it strengthen me. Let it make us better people, instead of bitter people.
As a child of the One True King, I know that hatred won’t win because Love is in control. As a once hopeless sinner who has been renewed through the love of Jesus Christ dying for me, I know that my God can change any circumstance. But even if He chooses not to, He is still in complete control. That is why I do not allow what’s happening around me, to disturb the peace that is within me.
So… who am i? I am a winner who has been called by my Father to be strong in the midst of turbulence. He has called us to stand out… to be different… to show love! I am a conqueror of all circumstances because I am a child of the one who is unconquerable.
