Who am I?

“Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name
Would care to feel my hurt?
Who am I, that the bright and morning star
Would choose to light the way
  For my ever wandering heart?”

Realizing our own insignificance in a universe far too great to even imagine shouldn’t be that difficult, but it is. We struggle with it because we live in a world that has a warped view of what significance really is. So, we feel we need to have an inflated opinion of ourselves, just to keep up with the Jones’s. Here’s an idea – Forget about how great you think you are compared to others, and see yourself as a tiny, tiny little speck in the bigger scheme of things. And that’s what makes me humble and stops me from allowing praise from others, to go to my head..

“Not because of who I am
But because of what you’ve done
Not because of what I’ve done
But because of who you are”

But when we understand who we are in God’s eyes, we realise that we are not nobodies to Him. In fact, we are so important to Him, that He made a way for us to conquer sin and be righteous. Not because of anything we have done, but because of the cross. The mere thought that Jesus died because He loves us so much should boggle our minds. And that’s what makes me bold and stops me from allowing criticism to bring me down.

“Blessed are the humble because they will inherit the earth.”

Have an amazing day being humble
