Allowing our focus to be blurred by distractions contaminates the outcome of our goals. This is something I say to myself every morning, yet I allow it to happen every day.
Why is it so difficult to stay focused? No matter who you talk to about this, they will all tell you that it’s easier said than done. To live a life of purpose requires sacrifice, and it goes against our very nature as human beings to give up something that we like. The purpose of our existence seems to be to create an environment that is as comfortable as possible for us, and it’s getting worse by the day. This is one of the biggest distractions we love to feed, and by doing that we are starving our focus and postponing the reaching of our goals.
The crazy thing is that the opposite of that, is another massive distraction. We are so concerned what other people think, that we avoid any possibility of criticism. And the only way we will never be criticized is if we do nothing. Remember this:
“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena… Who spends himself in a worthy cause; if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”
We can’t stop to throw stones at every barking dog. Also, we mustn’t be so concerned about our own comfort, that the pain of those around us disappears from our focus. God has created us all for an amazing purpose. It’s time! The world needs us to be focused. The world needs to us to starve those distractions, no matter what society is shouting. Listen to God’s whisper. Stay focused and stay on track.
