What we believe about life and about ourselves makes all the difference. It will shape how we live, what we do and who we become.
If we believe that there is no God and that life is a random list of events that is controlled by nothing, then our purpose becomes very vague. I know that there is a God who created everything and I know that He has a general- and a more specific purpose for my life. That’s exactly what wakes me up in the morning and keeps me from wanting to go to bed at night. When we know that we are called to something bigger than ourselves, the purpose of our existence isn’t a question anymore. It now becomes the answer to Life.
That belief then affects our attitude and that in turn, affects our behaviour. Knowing that we are God’s ambassadors here on earth, makes it impossible to sit in a heap for a long time, and to allow our circumstances to overwhelm us. We are called to be a light in the darkness. That’s exciting news! So choose a life of purpose today, because that’s what God has chosen for every one of us.
My prayer is that we will all choose…
to live by choice and not by chance; to make changes, not excuses; to be motivated, not manipulated; to be useful, not used; to excel, not compete; self-esteem, not self-pity; to listen to my inner voice, not the random opinions of others…
