Broken

In one way or another, we are all broken. And because we live in a throw-away society, we tend to right others off- or even write ourselves off – when the cracks start appearing.

It’s become too easy to throw away that appliance when it doesn’t work anymore. It’s much easier buying a new one. The problem is that you can’t get a new you when you are feeling broken. That’s when we often feel useless and defeated. But here’s the thing…

You are never useless and you are never defeated!

In fact, it’s our brokenness that brings us to a place of humility and a place of opportunity. Those cracks and scars are what make us strong and build resilience in us. I thank God every day for the scars on Jesus. Because of His broken body, I have been made whole and there is nothing in life that can ever break me to the extent where I cannot be fixed. A dream of mine might be broken, but my future is very secure in His hands. People might break my heart, but Jesus never will.

A traditional Japanese way of fixing broken porcelain, is to repair it with gold. The flaw is seen as a unique piece of the object’s history. This adds to its beauty. Jesus fixes our flaws with gold and makes something beautiful from something broken. I had the most messed up life imaginable, believing that I was so broken that nothing could fix me. Jesus proved me wrong.

You are priceless. God is waiting to turn your ashes in beauty. Let Him do and you’ll never need to look back again.

Have an awesome day!

  1. Hi Mark,

Hope you and your family are doing really well. Do you remember chatting with me on the beach in Geelong about baptism? Well I said I’d let you know if I decided to get baptised so here I am. I’ve been blessed to be a part of the church at C3 church in Devonport lately and I have decided to be baptised at tomorrow’s service. Don’t feel like you need to be here or anything but I just wanted to tell you!

I don’t really know what to expect in some ways but I’d like to do it anyway and I’m excited for whatever God does with me.

    Thanks for all your encouragement.

    1. That’s fantastic news Samuel. Wish I knew earlier and I would have been there. You are telling God exactly that. You are handing it to Him and letting your Christian friends know that too. Very proud of you and always remember that I’m here if you ever want to chat.
Please say hi to Bryan for me at C3.
      Keep in contact.

May God make His face shine on you.

      Mark
