The secret to a fulfilling and purposeful life requires a change of attitude. If you find yourself in a rut, unhappy and discontent, things will never change unless you do. We can’t always control our circumstances, but we can always control the way we respond to them. There will never be a different result if we keep doing things the same way.
We love to blame our circumstances for the mess we often find ourselves in. If it’s possible, which it often is, we need to move OUT of the circumstance that’s causing our struggle. If you hate your job, find another one. If you are in a toxic relationship, terminate it. Nobody said it would be easy. Life is tough. It’s time we became tougher. If it’s something you have no control over, you have two options. You either change the way you look at it and come out taller, or it will change you and make you feel defeated and smaller.
Life is filled with challenges. That’s what makes it exciting. Sometimes those challenges make us feel lonely. It often feels as if nobody else understands what we’re going through – as if we are alone in a forest. Being alone in a forest can be a scary- and lonely experience. But it can also be a place to find invigoration and a place to grow. What happens to us in the forest, depends on our attitude.
In my experience, the only way I can possibly see the silver-lining in life’s dark storms, is when my hope is in Christ. He has changed everything for me. Even though I walk through the darkest forest, I have hope. Even though I face the greatest giants, I have hope. That hope’s name is Jesus. He has literally changed my mourning into dancing.
I love walking through the woods of challenge, because I don’t see them as dark and scary. It’s a place where my resilience is built and my faith grows. It’s a place where God’s presence becomes real. And there’s no better place to be than walking tall, with my Saviour.
Have an amazing day!
