When our lives seem to be falling apart and nothing seems to be working out, it’s very easy to become disgruntled. I know that I do. We might be nice to others and treat everyone with respect but all we often get in return are snide remarks and negativity. We work hard but the money never seems to be enough. We pray but our prayers seem to bounce off the ceiling.
It’s during those times that we need to renew our thinking. Instead of becoming angry and feeling sorry for ourselves, we need to decide differently. It is (especially) during trials that we need to remind ourselves that all of this is temporary. That our identity is not found in things and money and the way that other people treat us. When our love is repaid with hatred… love anyway. When hard work isn’t rewarded… work hard anyway. When our kindness is rewarded with unkindness… be kind anyway. Our identity is found in God. No matter what is happening in your and my life, the one thing that we can be assured of is that nothing can separate us from His love.
We might never see the rewards of our goodness here on earth, but there is a far greater reward waiting for us when we one day enter into His presence. Let’s keep running the race and focus on the victory that awaits us.
