Tired?

When I look around the train, the bus, the city… I see very few smiles and ample frowning, tired faces. It’s almost the end of the year and everyone looks exhausted. A good rest seems in order.

The other day I wore 1 of my T-shirts that has “TIRED?” printed on the front. Almost every person I walked past smiled and answered “Yes”. The point of the T-shirt, however, is that on the back, the verse where Jesus tells us that He will give us rest, is printed. Very few people saw that.

We all seem to do the same. We become tired… “lewensmoeg” as they say in Afrikaans. It basically means our lives are so busy that we become tired just to be alive. But here’s the thing: If we can be doing what we are passionate about instead of just doing whatever it takes to make enough money to pay the bills, we will be less “lewensmoeg”!

Those who’s calling (purpose) becomes their passion are the most content of all. They certainly become tired, but it is the good kind of tired. It won’t be the kind of tired that causes a frown on our faces and a feeling of just getting through each day, counting the hours. It’s good to be tired at the end of a day’s toil. But when we are tired because of life, it becomes a dangerous place to be.

My prayer for you today is that:

  • you realise your worth in God’s eyes
  • you understand He has a purpose for you
  • you find that purpose
  • you live your purpose every day

The only place we can truly find rest is in His presence.

Have an awesome day!
